P R O F I L E -  MARK R. OSHEROW

Mark R. Osherow is the founding shareholder of Osherow, Shiner & Associates, P.A., a boutique litigation firm in Boca Raton, Florida. Mr. Osherow is Board Certified as a Specialist in Business Litigation Law by the Florida Bar. He was recognized as a top "up and comer" by the South Florida  Legal Guide for 2005 in the areas of Business Litigation and Products Liability. Mr. Osherow received the "Excellence in Writing Award" from the Florida Bar for his article on the civil theft statute appearing in the Florida Bar Journal in March 2003.

Mr. Osherow  received his undergraduate degree in 1985 from the University of Pennsylvania, and is a 1988 graduate of the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in New York City. Mr. Osherow is a member of the Florida, New York, New Jersey and Connecticut Bars. He concentrates his practice in both the state and federal courts in business litigation matters, employment litigation, products liability, medical negligence and other professional liability claims, insurance coverage and personal injury claims.

In addition to his service as a Director of  the South Palm Beach County Bar Association following three years of service as the Chair of the Civil Litigation Committee, Mr. Osherow is currently a member of the Editorial Board of the Florida Bar Journal/News. He also serves as an attorney-member of a Fifteenth Judicial Circuit Grievance Committee. Mr. Osherow previously served two terms as a member of the Florida Bar's Standing Committee on the Unlicensed Practice of Law (UPL).

Mr. Osherow is also an active member of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, the Academy of Florida Trial Lawyers, Palm Beach County Trial Lawyers Association and the Palm Beach County Bar Association.  He also served as the Co-Chair of the Annual Fund of the St. Andrews School for the past two years, and has been actively involved in numerous civic and charitable organizations. Mr. Osherow was recognized in November 2004 for his service in the Report to Congress by The Trial Lawyers Care Pro Bono Project to Provide Legal Representation for Victims Before The September 11th Victim Compensation Fund of 2001.

GENERAL INFORMATION
Mr. Osherow, who is originally from New York City, New York, received his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1985 from the University of Pennsylvania and his Juris Doctorate in 1988 from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in New York. While at Cardozo, he served as Executive Editor of The Cardozo Arts & Entertainment Law Journal. Mr. Osherow began the practice of law to a nationally regarded litigation and products liability firm in New York City, Lester Schwab Katz & Dwyer, representing corporate clients, domestic and international, in products liability, insurance and other complex state and federal litigation matters. Mr. Osherow gained an additional two years experience at a New York boutique firm, White, Fleischner & Fino, where he concentrated on defense litigation and first party insurance coverage and claims primarily for Underwriters at Lloyd's and other international and domestic insurers. Following a seven year career in New York City, Mr. Osherow moved to Boca Raton, Florida and continued his litigation practice with Weiss & Handler, P.A. 

Today, Mr. Osherow's practice focuses on litigation of complex business, commercial, employment, insurance, personal injury, medical malpractice, professional liability, managed care and other tort matters, from both the plaintiff and defense perspectives. Mr. Osherow handles employment related disputes from
inception through trial. 

Mr. Osherow joined The Florida Bar in 1994. He was admitted to the Connecticut Bar in 1988, to the New York Bar in 1989 and the New Jersey Bar in 1990. Mr. Osherow is a member of the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, the United States District Courts for the Southern, Middle and Northern Districts of Florida, the Southern, Eastern and Northern Districts of New York, and for the District of New Jersey.
 
Mr. Osherow is a member of the Palm Beach County Bar Association and the South Palm Beach County Bar Association, where he served as a  Chair of its Civil Practice Committee, and now serves on its Board of Directors.  Mr. Osherow is also a member of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America. He is also a member of The Academy of Florida Trial Lawyers

Mr. Osherow served as an arbitrator in 1993-1994 for the Civil Court of the City of New York. He is currently active in the Legal Aid Society for Palm Beach County, Florida, and has agreed to accept pro bono representation of indigent clients upon request. He also served 1997-1998 as a member of the
Board of Directors of the South Palm Beach County Jewish Federation and of the Adolph and Rose Levis Jewish Community Center (1996-2005), where he served on its Executive Committee and Co-Chairman of its By-Laws Committee and of its fund-raising committee. He is also involved in fund-raising as past Chair of the Benefactors' Committee. Mr. Osherow also contributes his time to such endeavors as Law Day where he moderated a high school moot court presentation and to the ATLA National Moot Court Competition, serving as a judge. He emphasizes the firm's commitment to worthy cause in the community, including two years of service as the Annual Fund Chair for the St. Andrew's School, after serving for five years as a representative.
